![]() Fishing is still great around Comox and south Campbell River! Fishing off Willow point and the CR hump has produced many nice chinook the last few days. The 180ft contour in front of the Oyster River up to Salmon point is worth trolling, find the bait and you will find the salmon! Kitty Coleman hump is fishing well, but with the big tides over the weekend, putting your time in and waiting for the bite to come on is key to success! Hootchy's in green/glow or blue/green(non glow)are working well along with 5 inch Coyote spoons in crome/blue. Fishing is still good for chinooks with plenty of fish weighing in the teens and a good number over 20 pounds....I have heard of a few over 30(Tyee)also!
Kitty Coleman hump has bin hot for a few weeks now.The deeper water around the hump have been holding fish 180-240ft ,try any green/glo hootchy with a 30 inch leader behind green/glo flasher...Great combo! Campbell River hump is starting to produce the same numbers of fish as KittyColeman now.The same hoochy/flasher works well here, but spoons and plugs will get the job done also! Its the first week of june and like last year at this time the fish are here!
The past few days has produced many fish over 20 pounds, along with lots in the teens! Fishing north of Campbell river has been slow, most of the "hot spots" have been around the Campbell hump down to the south end of Hornby Island. The hump off Bates beach has been good the last few days. Most fish have bin caught 30 to 40 feet off bottom using mostly hootchies with a 36 inch leader.Spoons in a 5 inch size 6 feet behind a flasher have worked well also. The dog fish(mud sharks) are showing up now so no more fishing bait for me! My "spring special" is still on till mid june,so book now while the fishing is HOT!!! |
