The Kitty Coleman(Bates Beach) area has produced many nice chinook over the last week. Most fish weigh in the teens and low twenty's,with some wopper's mixed in as well.Friday July 27 we had over 20 springs to the boat with two over 30 pounds and the rest of the limit in the mid twenty's! The cuttle fish hootchy in blue and green's,army truck with a 36 inch leader have been working well.Spoons have produced a few but not as well as the hootchy. Sentry Shoals is warming up also, lots of bait brings the salmon in.The 180ft contour on the south end has produced some good numbers the last few days! Campbell River Hump has been slow for the last week but yesterday that changed...some nice chinooks were taken. Fishing has been incredible the past two weeks. Lots of chinooks in the mid to high twenties and more tyee's (over 30lb's) than I have seen in these parts in a long time! The Campbell River hump has been on fire the last few days (July 10-13) The deeper water around the "hump" has been producing well for me. Find the bait and you will find the fish! I found a huge bait ball at 380 feet today and dropped my gear into it and had a fish on right away, so make sure you have lots of cable on your riggers!!! They are hitting most gear, but the cuttle fish hootchy in greens and blues seem to be the go to lures. Bates beach slowed a bit but will be turning on with all the fish heading south from Campbell river I'm sure! |
